Golfers all over the world would like to play on different courses. For this purpose they go on golfing tour to places which offer them an opportunity to play on different courses. Chandigarh and its surrounding areas have already emerged as a nursery for Golf with excellent Golfing infrastructure and it has produced many international professional and amateur golfers. The golfing infrastructure existing here i.e. Chandigarh Golf Club, Chandimandir Golf Course, Panchkula Golf Course, Forest Hill Golf Resort and CGA Golf Range, easily attract golfers from both within India and abroad and it can emerge as a most favoured golfing tourism destination and this can generate business for all concerned i.e. Hotels and Trade etc. With this Golfing and supporting infrastructure Chandigarh can be the cheapest destination for learning, practicing and playing Golf in the world.
Chandigarh Golf Association in association with tourism departments of Chandigarh and Haryana, TAAI (Travel Agent Association of India, HRTC (Hotel and Restaurant Association of Chandigarh) and the golf clubs of Chandigarh, Panchkula & Forest hill Golf resort are striving hard to promote Chandigarh as a Golf Tourism destination. Till now, CGA have organized Eight Golfing Tours to expose the available Golfing infrastructure in and around Chandigarh. Last year's tournament held in December, received a tremendous response. As many as 100 Golfers participated in this tournament.
Chandigarh Golfing Tour- eight Chandigarh Golfing Tours from 2007 onwards to promote Chandigarh and surrounding areas as a Golf Tourism destination, have been conducted successfully. Over 400 Golfers from 12 Countries have taken part in these Golfing Tours.
Developing Linkages abroad-
The Members of the CGA have been participating in Golf Tournaments held by Baisakhi Golf Association USA, Australian Punjabi Sports and Cultural Club (APSCC) Sydney, Indian Golfers Society Dubai and SS Bajwa Memorial Tournament LA USA. They have also attended tournaments like the US Open, Desert Classic Dubai and the Italian Open. CGA is also developing linkages with golfing bodies both in India and abroad.
